I have been fortunate to play in several bands over the years. Cabin Creek (country), Harvest Pickers (bluegrass), Lee's Station (bluegrass), Cornerstone (bluegrass/gospel), Springstreet (bluegrass), Heartland (country).

I think that's all.

I've played in many bands in my 44 years of playing. I'm still getting paid the same amount for bar gigs as I was back in the '70's. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Well I've played in various wind bands, but that's probably not what you mean. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Hopefully I'll be able to answer you with one soon. I've been trying to get a group together, but can't believe how hard it is to find an available guitarist in his 20s.

Counting bands that played 20 gigs or more, and not counting guest appearances or bands pulled together for specific events, I came up with these in chronological order: Arkansas Travellers, Bluegrass Caravan, Country Caravan, Irish Brigade, Pitz Valley Boys, Fire on the Mountain, Southern Rail, Stringtown, Hot Off the Frets, Reiner Family Band (longest at 15 years), Granite Grass. #Still going strong... #

F5L,

I know what you mean. There a million guitar players out there and i don't know one who can play a strong rhythm, sing lead and harmony vocals, and flatpick some decent leads. I know a bunch of great people who can do some of the above, but if they can flatpick they can't play rhythm, if they can sing they can't sing harmony, etc.

One thing I'm learning right now is that it's rough getting in a group with a really nice guy and good guitar player who can't sing. I play for fun in Mighty Fine, but we've been trying to establish solid harmonies for three years, and our guitar player can't get it.

Currently, the WoodBees (electric pop and boomer classics). Before that: Rag, Dawg & Slick (BG) Spruce Street (BG), Three Penny Bit (Irish-ish) Willow Moon (originals, granola music), Timber Creek (country/folk and originals) Was "friend" in lots of "So-and-so and Friends" bands and lots of bands that barely lasted a couple of gigs.

44 years of bands here. From a high school band all the way up to Earl Taylor's band, the Bluegrass Cardinals (early days), Ron Spears and Within Tradition, to my present band. I count 19 paid bands.....paid means $10 and free beer...or better.

Excludes a weekend as a Bluegrass Boy.
