This is my first post and I must say that after lurking about this forum for a while I'm continually astounded by the breadth of knowledge and depth of enthusiasm for the mandolin. This is a great site and I'm happy to be part of it.

To my point:

I will be going to Italy (Elba, near Florence) in June and of course I will be bringing my mandolin along. I would like to learn a piece or two of classical Italian mandolin before going but I have no idea where to begin. I've been playing for only about five months, and though I'm progressing well, the pieces would have to be easy to intermediate.

I welcome all input, along with any suggestions for tabs or recordings. Thanks!

Dave,
Welcome to the Café. Take a look in the Classical section (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=6) for some possible threads.

This thread (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=3;t=33754;hl=classical+and+ italian) may be a great one to get your feet wet.

Sandy,

You're responding to a posting from 2008. Since then, the forum software has been changed and cross links in old messages are no longer valid. I suggest you do your own search for "classical" and "Italian" (or suitable other search terms). Italian music is discussed in the classical forum as well as in the Celtic/European Folk forum.

Thanks Martin.....
I was looking for "easy" classical pieces for a newbie to the genre.

Thanks,
Sandy
