I'm 15 and I've been playing mandolin for about 2 years. So ... Does that make me the youngest member on the message board?

Hmm. I'm twenty nine, but I act like a fourteen year old most of the time. Does that count?

Last year I had a 10-year-old student that I turned on to the Café. Don't know if he ever became a "member" (quite sure he never posted anything), but he might count. I know some members have children as young as 8 who read postings on occasion. Whatever the age, we all appreciate fellow mandolinistas.

So far you're the youngest person posting on this thread. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hey my mandolin is older than you! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Keep picking and practicing because I can't tell you how many posts I have read on here (including me!) that said they played all during there youth then put music down for years and then came back to it 10, 15 even 20 years later.

All of us wonder how good we would have been if we had kept on picking! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

You're a young whippersnapper. Many of us have to die for you to get that designation.

That's right Jim. Play as much as you can while you're young. When you get older other "things" get in the way. And make sure the girlfriend knows what your priorities are...they can get in the way as well. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Hate to burst everyone's bubble with this cautionery note, but younger members mentioning their age on the message board open up a some very dangerous potential in this sometimes harsh cyberspace frontier. There are a lot of predators out there; we trust those minors that publish there age do so with care (and hopefully parental supervision). We can't ask you not to discuss your age, but be prudent. It's not just you and some friendly, trustworthy mandolin buddies that visit the Cafe; it's literally open to the whole world to view.

Age is just a number on a driver's license.

Hey Loar, you're just a young-un. I hope that I'm not as old as I feel.

Age is a 2 digit number but for some of us it's a 3 digit number.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have just recently celebrated my 18th anniversary of my 21st birthday.

It's a wonderful feeling to finally be 21..... # ......again #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

My wife tells me that I sometimes act like our two-year old -- although I no longer wear diapers and can drink from a cup without soaking myself.

"Age is just a number on a driver's license."

It's actually not an age on a driver's license. At least not in this country. Maybe people can drive at 15 in CA. They have all sortsa crazy laws there.

Just give yourself time -- you'll get back to there someday.

You who are 15 and 2 years into playing I say good for you- it's a wonderful lifelong pursuit and an early start means you get to enjoy it for a loooong time

I admit it... I'm all too familiar with Jefferson Airplane. So yes, that pretty much dates me too (except I'll say I was a little young for their heyday).
