I've been considering a new Breedlove Quartz OF as an upgrade from the Washburn M2 that I have. However, I can get a used Weber Absaroka in mint condition, with maple back and sides, from a very reputable dealer for only about $350 more than the Breedlove. Seems to me that the Absaroka would be a much better value for just the additional $350. Also has a used Breedlove A style Olympic for a good price.

Hey,
Depends. Do you mean 350 above the Breedlove price or abover your trade in price? Also the OF is oval holed and will have a much different sound than the Weber. I'd go with the Webber but I'm biased (new Weber convert all the way). The Weber will be more versatile IMO, but the Breedlove would be great for Celtic and Old Time.

The 0f is not oval holed...the 00 is.

I purchased a Breedlove Quartz 00 (Oval, not F-hole) last fall and am very happy with it. Sweet tone, very good action, nice ringing sustian. (Had a slight action problem and sent it back to them, they fixed it and returned it promptly.) I played a lot of mandos before I purchased this one, but only two were Webers - I liked the Breedlove better, though the Webers were more expensive, but maybe I didn't play enough of the right models? I purchased my Breedlove from Gryphon Strings in Palo Alto CA, who gave me a good price. Always ask for the best price, any retailer will come down from the shelf price.
