I seen the mandoblasters and I think they look great but how do they play? I sold my mandobird because of the low volume on the E-strings and I called a place that sells the electric Kentucy mandolins and asked if they had that problem also and was told they do.
Does the Mandoblaster have a very low volume problem on the E-strings?

I have a four string that sounds great, no problem with output. Overall I think it's a much better made instrument than the bird.

It's the pickup that senses the string over it.
physics of small amplitude [string moving up and down waveform(not far) ] and low mass [thin] in the magnetic field, is a factor.
Mandoblaster as is, has a lipstick type pickup, though, as he is building them domestically, Elderly his retail rep, a different pickup may be possible. no harm in asking..
2 pickup , in bridge piezo, and a magnetic humbucker
would be a way to go, IMHO then you may blend the 2 with a stereo jack, to a 2 channel stereo amp. piezos seem shrill sounding , so add some of that to taste when the magnetic pickup sound is found wanting.
CGDA tuning and string selection takes care of the weak E string too.
That's exactly the conversion I did on my mandoblaster.
