Had a chance to hear the Weber Absaroka on video
and thought it sounded very good. Does anyone have
one or played one and can give an opinion>?

I had an Absaroka oval hole mando that I liked a lot. Very nice tone, workmanship, and playability. I had to sell it to finance the purchase of my current mandolin but I sure enjoyed it while I had it.

I have an Absaroka I recently bought, with maple upgrade. It has f-holes. I was considering a maple Bitteroot, but I found that I liked the Absaroka tone better for single string playing. It has cross bracing. The tone bar bracing on the Bitteroot gives a much bigger chop, but I didn't like the single string tone as much.

I've had it only a couple of months, but so far I just love the Absaroka.

The Absarokas come with maple, but it's worth it if you can find one with the fern grade maple upgrade. I have that on my Tone Bar braced Beartooth. Pretty much the same mando but with fancier appointments. They are great mandos for the money. Be patient, they pop up on the cafe for around a grand every now and then. There's nothing that drastically makes this the mando to get over the Rigel A+ just personal preference. I really love the Weber Mission Statement and company beliefs. Otherwise both mandos are the best you can get for the money.
