I have played several MK mandosin one sitting. The radiused fretboard is great. The tone on the O was a lot different than the F holed ones. It has a big full sound, but I prefer the F hole sound.
Yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that I am looking for the "oval hole sound". I have an Goldtone F, but I play more blues, jazz and rock and one of the things I do is a duo, so the mellower tone (in that setting anyway) is a positive...however, the F cuts through for the rock stuff...

Looks like it would be easy enought to reto fit one with an active bridge pickup.

I played one in a store. I thought the fit and finish was great and the neck and fretboard were very playable. I was looking for the "oval sound," but I was dissappointed in what I heard. It sounded dead compared to a vintage Gibson oval. For close to the money in an import oval, the Eastman A-4 copy sounds much better, IMHO.
Mando Johnny where would one look for such an instrument? and what type of stuff do you play?
Hey i saw the mk legacy o a few days ago and i was gunna see wat yall thought but i really dont think it would compare to a vintage gibson either but neither does the price

Eastman's site is here:

Eastman really doesn't have thier distribution going strong on the mandos yet, although thier guitars and symphonic strings are pretty available. I played two of thier mandos at a shop in Huntsville, AL, but I don't remember the name of the store. To answer your question, I play church music in one group and old-time string band music in another.

Not necessisarily. I have seen the lower level Gibson A ovals, like the A Junior, for less than a new MK. They don't look as pretty, but the tone is way better.
