Wonderful find!! I don't think it is a bowlback FWIW. Looks like a flatback to me.

That tune is in Jack Tottle's "Bluegrass Mandolin" book. It's a favorite of teachers to show how you can move the same fingering around the neck.

Cool, thank ya for the link. It started the New Year off right. I then went to my mandolin, found the tab in one of my books and played it for my cat Guthrie ( named after Woody.)My better half Francesca was a bit hung over and I thought #it would disturb her, but she loved it. A Italian in the house with a mando player is #an asset as that is a native sound for her and makes feel #her closer to home.
Funny cat story: When people hear the name of my cat they ask if he was named after Arlo or Woody. When I met Nora Guthrie at Merle Fest two years ago, she asked if he was named after her father or brother http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Barry Mitterhoff gave me (a simple version of) this tune on my very first mandolin lesson, years ago. I still play it.
Thanks for the great clip

Thanks for the link. I hadn't played that in years. Called it at the jam tonight and had fun with it!

haha woah! this was the first song that i ever learned on the mando, and ive never heard anywhere else. what a fun video!
Cool tune... I haven't played it in years either but I'll have to do something about that. I learned it out of Jack Tottle's book too... I just thought the note pattern looked cool so I wanted to hear how it sounded.
I worked it out while riding the bus to work. I wanted something to do to kill the time on the bus but I wasn't sure how learning tunes on the mando would be received. It was kinda funny because some folks glared at me and moved to the front of the bus and other folks moved from the front to the back to come listen and ask about the instrument. The bus driver got into it so I guess it wasn't a horrible socially inept thing to be doing!
