Hello everyone. #I have been reading your messages for years but have never had much to say until now. #My wife of over 20 years just surprised me with a new Gibson F-5G for Christmas.
Needless to say she is the best wife in the world! #I wanted to share this news with the only folks that I know who would understand the magnitude of her love, kindness, and generocity.

Happy Holidays! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

If you have been reading for a while then you know it's a violation of the Mando Law and Cafe Bylines to post a new mandolin message without pictures!

Also what a cool wife! And a Gibson on top of that! WOW! You must have been a good boy all year! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I only got one question..... does she have a sister? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Dang, my wife MIGHT get me mandolin lessons for Christmas, but that would be about it. I can't even imagine getting such a nice gift! Congratulations to you and it does indeed sound like you have a good catch there.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts(my wife thanks you too). I would post a picture but my camera is broken and I haven't been able to put the mandolin down.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

That's cool and bro she's a keeper for sure. She did some homework there cause if I were buying a Gibby right now I would have to buy the same model! I've heard some other Gibby models and for the money those are the bust bang for the buck! Way to go and Merry Christmas to ya!!

Perhaps she could talk to mine too. Really though, you're very lucky to have such a wife. Happy holidays indeed.

I remember about 13 years ago when Joan surprised me on Christmas with a Taylor XX-MC guitar, the 20th anniversary model with the fancy inlay work, and the first of their "grand auditorium" models. She had gone to Dave at Stutzman's Guitar Center and asked what he thought I'd like. It was an astounding surprise and real evidence of the strength of a marriage now in its 39th year.

When I read all the posts about how "my wife won't let me buy it" and "now you'll have to get your wife something really expensive to make up for it," I sometimes get a bit annoyed. I think there are probably many marriages and other relationships out there, where both partners support each other's interests and are glad to facilitate each other's growth and enjoyment. Too often the picture of the spouse on this board, is one of someone who doesn't understand, doesn't approve, and puts obstacles in the path of the mandolin player. A bevy of Henny Youngmans and Rodney Dangerfields (or Roseanne Barrs) who happen to also play mandolin.

That's why this thread is so refreshing. Here's to Steve's wife, and to all the other wonderful spouses and partners out there who make our lives and our music better.

We need a photo of your wife holding the mandolin. She might make the next "poster wife" at the cafe.
