I am curious about this because the pictures on the Daley website show two different mandolins under the heading Adam Steffey's mandolin. One has triple binding on the side ala Monroes 73987 Loar and the other is triple bound on top. Both have fern pegheads but different tailpieces. What's the story here? The one he plays on the Acutab DVD is the top bound one with the funny tailpiece. Am I worrying too much? Merry Xmas everyone.

I don't really know if he has two, but I've heard tell of people who have more than one mandolin at the same time. I can't imagine why anyone would do that, but . . .?

Yes. He has at least two. He may have an whole houseful of mandolins, but as of IBMA he had two Daily's.

I'm pretty sure he does still have his Gibson signature model too. If you pick like Addam you really should have more than one mandolin.

there was that sam bush style daley he was playing at ibma. looks like he might have kept it. you can see some pics of it on his myspace page. also-looks like sierra hull (who was given a steffey model gibson) is playing a daley now too. or at least there is a pic of her rocking out on one on her site.

Well I'm sure he has a few mandolins, butI'm curious about the Daleys as shown on the Daley website. There are two different mandolins being presented as Adam Steffey's. Gee Sierra Hull is incredible...and can play a lot of Adam's breaks...probably can play anything she hears..damn.

I saw Sierra sitting in with a couple of bands recently (Lou Wamp and Swing Shift, on mandolin, and the Dappled Grays, on guitar). The mandolin was a well-worn Weber.

I don't know anything about the Sierra Hull Daley, I will ask Sim about it if nobody else has an answer, but I can tell you this definitively about Adam Steffey's mandolins:
Adam has two Daleys. One is the satin finish one pictured on Sim's site, the other is the 'Sam Bush model' refered to on this thread. Sim took one of his mandolins (built to the specs of Hoss) and beat it up with sandpaper and a hammer (seriously) until it looked as much like Hoss as he could make it...he was hoping to get Sam to play it but Adam was by the shop and liked it so Sim let him borrow it for a while, and Adam came back and said he wanted to keep it, so he did. That's the one he's been playing recently.
I got that information directly from Sim last time I was over there.

Was the Weber Sierra playing the new distressed model?
