I know this guy isn't a mandolin picker, but to lay down a tune like this he deserves some notice. I have no doubt he'd be burning a mandolin up in no time.

Thanks for sharing.

I see this #guy also plays a mean banjo and not so bad fiddle. Picking a mandolin would be a natural for him. You should suggest he post a video of him playing a mandolin http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Very impressive!. Anyone who plays flat pick Guitar impresses me. I play chords or finger-pick Guitar, but when it comes to flat picking, them big thick strings scare the dickens out of me,

excellent stuff - good singing voice as well. his "youtube" site (40 videos) says "We produce 100% hand made music!"

Very Norman Blake sounding to me which is what I prefer. If only it was as easy as that guy makes it look!

Exactly my thoughts -- I like the way his picking hand hops around from string to string -- lots of flare in his picking. Not too efficient in his motions but when you can pick that clearly you don't have to worry about it.

Well, I'd be good too if I could sit around in my office all day and pick! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Seriously though, that was really good. He makes it look easy, but it ain't.

That's some nice playing. I'm no authority on guitar chording but it looks like he often uses the pinky instead of his third finger so his pinky has become very efficient. Nice stuff and yes ,very "Blakey".

Just excellent, a great number; it's wonderful that Blake's musical genius is heard and seen in the world.

I emailed him complimenting his playing and asked if he played the mandolin and if so, post a video. Here is his reply:

Thank you!
Yes,I also play mandolin.
But I'm not good at playing mandolin.
Perhaps I'll try to play and post a video.
