View Full Version : Galli picks, strings and peg winder

just took delivery of all three from galli.

- the picks (heavy in this case - 100mm) are the same as for a guitar - smooth, medium sized, faux tortise celluloid. they don't make the "plink" noise that the big stubby produces or the "slapping" sound you get from thiner picks. think they'll do for me. (set of 12 for €4.35.)

- the peg winder is too big for a mandolin. my mistake, i should have asked. (€3.00 @.)

- the strings are flat wound, light gauge - only slightly different than the medium gauge dogal strings i have (RW92.) both share the same 010 - 014 -032 gauge for EAG but differ on the D (023 for the galli; 024 for dogal.) the other difference is that the galli strings say they're suitable for electric mandolins but no such claim for the dogal.

given that they're both flat wound, what's the difference between "electric" and acoustic strings?

forgot how much the dogals cost but the galli strings were €8.25 - way cheaper.
