Howdy

Not sure if the best place to post this. I put this little chord melody arrangement together over the last few days. Need to come up with something for the second half of the tune still. Still working on how to get my chord voicings as lush as Jethro's. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

BTW can anyone recommend a free mando TAB program to do soemthing like this? I have Finale but it's not the easiest program.

If you are new to chord melody playing give this a try it's fairly easy to play. The top note of each chord is the melody. The last three chords shown is the start of the second section "Here we are"

Any suggestions for improvement is appreciated.

I did a chord solo version of this tune a few years ago. It's at Mandolin Christmas (http://www.soundclick.com/terrymlewis)
It's a simple arrangement, but the melody standing out is the most important aspect to me. I wish I could be more helpful, but maybe my version will inspire you:)

Nice. #I wonder about the third chord-- should the lowest note be 4 not 2? #Or maybe 2233? # Also, is this for solo use, or use with a guitar or bass? #I've never played this on mando (and don't have an instrument here to try it on), but I might start like this:

Yes you are right, typo, that third chord should be 2233.

Can you type your chord sequence horizontally?
like mine would be:

253x
577x
2233
9778
etc...

2 5--- (hold chord)

4 x--12 (that's XII, hold chord)

etc. Alternates at right is a little straighter harmony.
