I'm trying to find the tab for Hank Williams Jr. All My Rowdy Friends the mandolin break about 1.55 min. into the song. I have figured out most of it but when I'm playing it the break does not sound right. I play it in the key of D is the mando tuned down or what? If someone knows where I can find it or tab it out for me that would help. We have a gig in a couple of weeks and I would like to have the correct way to do it by then if I can.

You are referring to All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down) not All My Rowdy Friends (Are Coming Over Tonight.) The song is in the key of C on the original recording and the mando is almost surely in standard tuning but the break is a fairly simple succession blues-based bluegrass licks which ought to be pretty easy to transpose up a step to D if you want to. It would sound just as cool and more natural if you just played your own break over the changes instead of trying to play it exactly like the record. Here are the changes in D for the break:
D---/A---/D---/D7---/G---/A---/D---/D---/

Sorry All my rowdy friends have settled down. Th's why it does not sound like the song it's in C. I have heard the song a few times but have never tried to play it and when we did it at pratice we did it in the key of D. I will do what I have tonight at pratice to see if it goes well. Thank's for the info. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
