Anyone ever heard of a mando by this maker, or know anything about 'em? I was the winning bidder.... thinkin' of it as a first mandolin.... any comments, good or bad?

Hopefully it is in decent playing condition as the seller says. It looks like a slab birch top and is similar to some Strad-o-lins or Regals from the period. I never heard of the label, tho.
The price is okay if it doesn't need too much work.

Thanks for the help, Jim. I hadn't thought of birch - pine came to my mind when I saw the slab cut wide grained top - but I think you're probably right. The seller said that he thinks it's a solid top, which is probably right. I don't think using plywood was a common practice in the 30's.
At the worst, it's a dog. At best, it'll be great. Probably, the truth is somewhere in between. Hope to report on it soon!
Anyone know of a good mando luthier in the Atlanta area?

I was watching that one and missed the final bid. I think it looks real good, like a nicer stradolin. Let me know what I missed. Shoot, for 127.50 and about 12.00 shipping, I don't think you made a bad choice (but let us know if you did...):p
