Can anyone who uses Transkriber (the one spelled with a K)tell me if you can use it with the music you have on Itunes? Thanks Clamdigger

So- dumb question of the day- what do these programs do? Which one is better or are they roughly equivalent. Where do you get them?

These programs, as well as others like "The Amazing Slow Downer" (ASD) and even Windows Media Player 10, play sound files and can also slow them down without changing the pitch, to facilitate learning tunes. Some also have additional features, like waveform analysis and pitch shifting. Transkriber is made by Reed-Kottler. You can buy it from thier website. I used it for years, but they let it get out of date compared to the others. I tried the free trial versions of "Transcribe!" from Seventh String Software and also ASD. I ultimately chose to buy Transcribe! I felt it had more functionality, even though ASD is more user friendly. Reed-Kottler has finally come out with a new version of Transkriber. Hopefully it is more up to date, but I can't comment on it. However, I did not like the fact that they didn't offer current licensed users any kind of an upgrade deal. Transcribe! has lifetime free upgrades and they update thier stuff more frequently.

Audacity is free, and will do at least as good a job slowing tunes down as those other programs, plus a whole lot more... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I still use Transkriber and still prefer it (slightly--there ARE a lot of good newer programs out there) for slowing down, looping, and otherwise transcribing an audio file. Your file has to be a .wav format. If you have an mp3, you need to translate it to .wav. Transkriber can do this for you, but I find it easier to use some other program for that.

Thanks for the response. Does anyone use Transcribe with a C and if so, do you like it? Thanks Clamdigger
