This is a great idea. I play that bad boy on the guitar. Over Christmas vacation I'll try and see if I can make it work on the mando. If so, I'll letcher know in January in this spot. If not, I'll slink away quietly into the dark.

"Clasical Gas" reminds me of the Smothers Brother's program and the last "Great" man to run for Presidaent, Pat Paulson. I saw Pat at local night spot during his "campaign". Well, if somebody finds the standard notation, PM me and I will take a stab at making a useable TAB.

I bought the sheet music for it back in '68 so I could try to learn it on guitar. I know it's still available.

Count me in (in the post or PM) for either one (Mando or Guitar) in TAB or at least in Notation. I love that song! I know a little of it on guitar just by ear and would love to nail down the whole thing.

Thanks! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif

Available here: http://www.consult-eco.ndirect.co.uk/guitar/tab.htm

Looks like it might be a challenge to make this sound good on a mandolin, but I think I'll give it a run when I finish my Christmas songs.

It would be a great mandolin tune. I saw Glen Campbell about 5 years ago. He played the fire out of that song.

Hm, "Classical Gas" reminds of Vanessa Mae. Is that the same piece you are talking about?

Plami is right. Vanessa Mae has a version on violin, which would translate to mandolin easier than the guitar version would. But trying to keep up with Vanessa is not an easy feat.
