Well, I'm sure Hubby learned one thing last night (late)...Never joke around with me. Hee! I was just plucking around on our mando, and, mind you, folks, we've not even had it but two weeks, and no instruction whatsoever, when Darin pipes up something about 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'. Off he went to do some private things for about 5 minutes, and, when he returned...
Oh, the mellow twinks came floating through the air! I was playing it for him. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Maybe he'll know better next time.
Learning a lot on our own, will hopefully be getting some DVD instructions. Truth be known, we're more into the classical than bluegrass, but that's cool, too! (Anyone know if "Bueno Noche" is in tablature here? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Thanks, Scotti, for the encouragement. I just figured out Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star a few minutes ago!
And, yes, there is a lot of information here, been using some of it. Now all I need to do is find a handrest for my right hand. My pinkie and ring fingers are getting tired 'bridging' the heel of my hand off the strings!

One of my favorites is Pop! Goes the Weasel.
Really. It fits so nicely on the mandolin.
Or the first few notes of Beethoven's 5th... Have fun Darin and Bea

"Mary Had a Little Lamb." We're talking the Stevie Ray Vaughan version, right? Written by Buddy Guy... Hmmm... Might have to work on that one myself.

"Our mando?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif? Did that catch anyone elses eye? I can see dark clouds on the horizon here. Y'all may want to qickly become a two mando family and end the war before it starts.

Two and half years into playing the mandolin (but long time guitar/banjo player), I can attest that the joy of playing does not diminish. I have the free time and play for 2 to 3 hours EVERY day and find while I continue to improve at a slow steady pace, the enjoyment of playing is just as strong for the beginner as it is for the intermediate player. Someday I hope I will be able to include "advance Player" in the same category, but even if I never get one bit better, I will still enjoy every moment of my play time.

Someone once suggested "I wish I had an Oscar Myer Weiner" for a fun tune http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
Have fun..I love to see new victims!!

Yes, 'our' mandolin, Darin wanted it, but I am home more...and yes, we were discussing that if we both wanted to play, to eventually get one for each...Then again, might even get a b***o, and play an odd form of Dueling B***os!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif I doubt I'm advanced enough to pick Stevie Ray's version out of the air on my own, so, no. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Pop Goes the Weasel? That'd get the kids in the neighborhood joining in! Any tablature on it? Hee! So many responses over my silliness, I can't answer them all! Thanks, everyone!
