This is my first effort to record a mandolin part and my second with the bouzouki. Give it a listen if you're interested; I welcome any suggestions or feedback. Thanks!

Really interesting piece... I like it a LOT -- the instruments play off each other nicely, and there are some very interesting ideas in there. There are parts of it that are very John Renbournish (which is high praise in my book).
My only bit of constructive feedback is that they are not always locked in together rhythmically. #It's a great piece and worthy of another couple of recording runs to get it more tightly coordinated. #I don't know what technology you're using, but you might benefit from practicing and then recording with a click track.

I agree, really nice musical ideas, I especially liked the first and third section. #Keep at it, and work more on locking in the rhythm. #I first thought a click track would be the answer, but the tempo varies quite a lot, so that may not work. #You can always practice with a click and the result will be a better sync even when you don't use it. #Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I realize the instruments aren't totally tight. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif It's sort of a compromise between having to re-record over and over again and getting the complete composition down. I may try to fix it up some more when I have the time, but I wanted to get it all recorded so I at least have it "on tape" in case I am able to re-do it later.
