Hey There

I've been lurking here for a while pulling as much info about a new mandolin for me. What a great resource. I've been playing guitar for about 4 years and finally decided to bite the bullet and get a mandolin since that's the sound I've never been able to get out of my head.

I will be taking clinics in my area since there is a really good teacher, and for the rest I'm going to try to go it on my own for a while.

What else should I be looking for now that my new mandolin is on the way.

It's an STE made by Weber, A style. I think it might be referred to as a Bluegrass or Bluegrasser model.

Cheers

Welcome, Shad.

That STE model is a good place to start. Welcome to the Café. There are tabs from the mandolin Home page here. (http://www.mandolincafe.com/tabarc.html)

And more stuff from Mandozine if you download the free TablEdit software here. (http://www.mandozine.com/music/tabledit_search.php) You can use the mandozine stuff in either standard notation or tab.

You'll probably want some mando thick picks. The thicker if you use the search function for pics in the equipment section you'll get lot's of hits to explore like these. (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=Search&CODE=02&SID=47423a3a5e9aa46a)
