I'm looking for information about an early 20th c banjo-mandolin with the model name "Michigan" or "The Michigan".

I've seen a couple of these go by on the ebay. I believe they were made by a Toronto based company, but I could be mistaken about that. Unfortunately, I have no pictures.

Anyone seen one of these or could steer me towards such? I appreciate the help. Since it seems I'll be in the former swing state for little while longer I might as well tap in.

thanks,

Mick

It must be foreign, as Mugwumps lists all American manufacturers and "Michigan" does not appear.

Yes, Ken, if my memory serves me well I recall reading in the ads I saw that they were made in Toronto. I'm not sure if I've seen any Canadian makers on the Mugwumps list.

It was a model line as well, the manufacturer had another name as I recall. They appeared quite nicely done, but as a novice to ebay at the time I rather bungled the bidding process. I've been waiting a few years for another to pass along but to no avail. I thought I'd float a trial balloon to see what any of the folks here might know of them.

I saw a Michigan tenor banjo that was really bad. No fretboard, the frets were set into the neck itself.
