<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe&#58;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Learned harmonica in the infantry -- only instrument that would fit into the "personal gear" spot in my footlocker.

Good luck to all who've gone through it, and hope that we all can live peacefully in the future.

USN, '69-'73, South China Sea. USS America. First time since I got out that I've made a public declaration of that experience like this. My wife and kids always remember to say thanks, but other than you folks here, today, the only other person who ever thanked me for my service was a Vietnamese girl, evacuated to the US, and living here today. That one about knocked me out...and this comes close.

Thank you all right back.

Wow lots of Navy folks here.

I did my time in the USA -- '70 - '72 -- with the 82nd Airborne Division.

"Within 18 hours of notification, the 82nd Airborne Division strategically deploys, conducts forcible entry parachute assault and secures key objectives for follow-on military operations in support of U.S. national interests"

Let no one forget.

But you are OK by me Navy! #

My Dad is Navy '42 - '46 -- no mando for him he's a 90 year old drummer.

USN 67-71. My step father served in the Navy during all of WWII. He served on a minesweeper in the Pacific and was in all the really bad ones.

My father served in the 20's in the horse mounted cavalry. He was too old to serve in WWII.

One of my sons served between the Gulf wars.

My Grandfather was wounded in WWI, my other was in the Spanish American war. My Great Grandfather emigrated from Ireland in 1861 and was immediatedly inducted (drafted) into the Union Army to fight in the Tennessee area.

I never served. My father, his 3 brothers and my 3 brothers did. Had a high number in the early 70's so I never was called.

It was my pleasure and an honor to serve my country,in the USAF 1971-2007. Thanks to all the folks that take the time to recognize Veterans on this holiday. I plan on serving my fellow musician community, with the same loyalty,
dedication and passion as I continue to build and repair instruments in my retirement years. I also plan to attend a few more BG festivals than I have in the past, now that I have the time.

To us who are the universal soliders, I pray for you. I do not acknowledge my time US Army 1971-1974 in public as I feel I am no different than the person who did not serve. We all have made extremely difficult choices which we all must live with. I do honor all those who serve and pray for peace constantly. If you need a reminder of those who have been wounded a classic out there that still stirs the soul is "Johnny got his gun" You will never look at war the same.

In Peace and Love to all Vets everywhere,
Ron
