I know this is sort of cheating, because this isn't a mandolin recording, but I was asked to let you all know that Mike is re-releasing his holiday guitar cd, Midnight Clear. Officially, it won't be released until next year, but Village Records will have some "advance" copies for sale, for this holiday season.
Here's their blurb (posted with permission):
"This was the one album from the 1998 Christmas season that became the new staple and transcended everything else that came down the chimney that year. It has since gone out of print and now commands collectors' prices. #It will be reissued for its tenth anniversary next year but here is your only chance to get it this year. This acoustic offering from one of the masters of just about any stringed instrument within reach is about as good as it will ever get. Thoughtful and at times haunting his take on the melodies that we’ve grown up on float through the air like a crackling fire. In the hands of Marshall the songs come alive once again and allow you a few moments of respite from what is always a hectic couple of months. Just put this one on repeat and let the joy begin."
