Ouch!

I was sitting on the back deck at a friends mosquito infested yard and picked up my mando after having sprayed myself with repellent. The underside of my right forearm was still a little wet with repellent and it got on the front of my mando. Well it wouldn't wipe off and now there's an area about the size of an orange that's quite dull on the shiny front of my instrument.

Is there something I can use to clean this funk off or do you think the chemicals have permanently messed with the finish?

The good news (if there is any) is that it's not terribly noticeable and it's an inexpensive Kentucky 150s mando.

But still. Ouch!

Any thoughts?

I'd try Maguier's swirl remover. It's a compound for use on car finishes to remove the tiny swirl marks left by polishing the finish with a circular motion. Any place that sells good quality car finishing products should have it. How well it works depends on how deeply into the finish the dullness goes. Some 1000 grit wet-dry sandpaper would be more agressive than the Maguier's but it might also be too agressive. So, I'd try the straight Maguier's first.

Whatever you do, you might want to try it on a tiny area of the affected region so that you can get a sense of what's going to happen before working on the whole blemish.

Good luck.
