View Full Version : Morris mandolins
I was wondering if any folks have played or ay info on Morris Mandolins. I saw one on ebay that looked pretty good for the dough. Any thoughts?

I have Morris Mando like the one on Ebay. Mine has a Douglas Fir top. Mr.Morris says it is very old wood. It has a very good Chop and sounds like some of the mandos that have a cedar top. Workmanship is better than some I have seen costing much more, easy to fret, could use upgraded tuners. Great mando for the money.

I haven't played one, but Mr. Morris seems to sell about three a month on eBay. If you use the search function on this site, you can find out more. My recollection is that the general feeling is that he offers a good, hand-crafted mandolin at a very reasonable price. He can do that because he knows how to do them fast and he leaves off some of the pretty trimmings on the headstock and all that can take a lot of time. He's a real builder, and you should get what you pay for. This isn't a mandolin made in China and sold with his name on it.

Yep, I've played a few, both were good, no frills, nice sounding mandolins.
