View Full Version : Mandolin / guitar duets
Hello,
Would any of you know of any duet arrangements for the two above instruments arranged in tablature? Actually, I only need the guitar part tabbed.
Thanks for your help,
John
Be careful asking for tab on the board, or standard notation for that matter; it'll get yoiu in trouble with someone. A specific group or tune would be good i think, to help direct people in giving you directions.

Allan Alexander has several books with mandolin - guitar duets, tabbed. Renaissance music, spanish music, celtic music, all kinds of stuff. His arrangements put the guitar in the background, as a support to the mandolin lead.

Were not that bad. Are we?
Steve Kaufman has a book entitled (I think) "Flatpicking the Gospels" for mandolin/guitar which has standard notation/tab for mandolin lead with guitar accompaniment. In addition to simple melody parts he also gives a more intermediate to advanced solo for mandolin as well. The book has fairly standard/classic hymns, and I think there's a version which has lead parts for the guitar as well, though I don't own that one. Hope this helps,
Chuck
JeffD,
I searched Mr. Alexander's name and did come up with a number of sites. Do you have any specifics as to titles or better, stores or sites that sell the books of interest?
Thanks,
John

The TablEdit files at mandozine.com often have guitar and mandolin parts in both standard and tabbed notation.

Allan Alexander's books don't have the guitar parts written out. The guitar parts are just arpeggios of the root and fifth of the current chord.
