well I think it's time to change my strings for the first time on the godin. From the godin web site they say it comes with godin strings (011,015,026,040). Elixir call these mediums. So any other A8 owners tried other guage's and brand of strings on these? I have no issue with the strings that are on it , for my playing,if you can call it "playing" they have been fine but they are a few months old now.
cheers

I had this Godin model a few years ago. #Its slim neck notwithstanding, it was a good durable little mando, although it sounded best when plugged in. #

I put 4-5 sets of GHS mediums on it over a year or so without any problems. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif

I used lighter .010 on mine , picking style is a consideration,
Amplification allows lighter strings without loss of volume.

Thanks boys , I went with .011 as that was what was on it according to Godin. went with elixir's , that's what I use on the guitars, plus changing the strings is a bit of a boggle for me compared to the guitars.Stayed with medium as I sort of play it like a uke , mostly strumming chords as the REAL mandolin style playing is still a long way off.People say "oh you play the mandolin ? " I say no but I own one ! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
