Met a guy at a jam over weekend he is just learning. He had a very good sounding mandolin custom made model. said something like E.A.D.S If I remember correctly I played it and it played real nice He said he got it for $300. After looking at it closer I seen that the top was sunk in ( almost below flat right past the bridge ) So my question did he get what he paid for ? Would you have to carve a new top? You don't just "carve a new top" for a $300 mandolin. Any decent carved top is worth several times that much. You play it until it becomes impossible, then you get a real mandolin.

*Might* be possible to push it back into position and rebrace it, but determining that is like asking someone how your hair looks over the telephone...
