Being that I own a MK mando, I was just thinking...Is there really a person named Michael Kelly, or is it just a figment of some marketing suit's imagination? Come to think of it, I also own an Eastman. Is there a face that goes with that name?

I also own an Oscar Schmidt OB-20 bass, and there really was an Oscar Schmidt, so I'm OK with that. But if MK or Eastman doesn't exist, I think I might feel...duped?

I see you own a Fender Jazz Bass! Is it the black and white Geddy Lee version? With the nice fret inlays? I want to soooo much to buy that for hubby for Christmas, but I know he'd be upset at me spending $800..... even if it's for him.

I play a Powell flute.... I think there was/is an actual Verne Q. Powell.

I think Eastman is trying to remind of of Eastman Conservatory of Music, but of course, it's made in the Far East, right? Instead of Chinaman, it's Eastman.

What I want to know is if there is a real person named Old Wave?

Yeah, here he is. Sometimes he thinks his name is Bill. Multiple personality disorder, I guess.

But...but...Michael Kelly sounds like some Irish guy who builds mandos in his cottage!

I guess I'll keep them, until I can buy a mando made in the USA by a builder who really exists, like Weber.

Mando Lynn, sorry to dissapoint, but it's not a Geddy Lee model, just a plain old sunburst Jazz. Nice bass though. I did have a Sting signature model 1953 Precision reissue, but I didn't like it that much so I sold it. It looked cool, but it didn't sound that good.

I know Jarrod is the wrong Washburn. It has to be Ray Washburn, who pitched a no-hitter in 1968. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Thank you for your indulgence of my brief late night silliness. After I found the Gibson and Martin picks I kind of went a little nuts. Max Weber, George Eastman, LBJ, and the Flatiron building were easy enough. Washburn and the actor Michael Kelly tool a little digging.

I really should not get on my computer after midnight. If I am still awake I should practice my mandolin.
