I know tab requests usually don't get answered, but I was wondering if anyone had tabbed out Monroe's Tombstone Junction. I found one version on John Baldry's site, but was looking to see if anything else is out there. (Also, if anyone knows where I can pay to get it done, I would if there were no other options). Thanks

(edit: looks like I can't spell, should be Tombstone on the main post)

I'd love to have tab to this tune too

John McGann does custom transcribing.

Ummmm.. I asked Bill Monroe to tab this one out for me...
He looked around for a fireplace poker to smack me with...

John McGann does a great job on tabbing out Monroe stuff; I believe he did the tabs for the Homespun Monroe tunes.

In the mean time, give this version a listen: Tombstone Junction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOf_APsxAOs).

I know, I know.....learning by ear is sooo much better. I just need about 5 more hours in the day to do everything I want! Tab/music certainly makes things easier.

AWESOME video by the way. I forgot that you guys had recorded that one.

The tune is basically a Monroe romp through basic chord changes. Take all your Monroe licks, mix 'em up in there appropriately, and you got it http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The way f5loar plays it, it appears to end with the opening 4 bars to BG pt.1 a k a Bluegrass Twist. I think it's a very good idea to pick out as much as you can by ear, at least if you want to really acquaint yourself with Monroe's blues language.

I got out that double live cd set and listened to this tune some this morning. There is a LOT of truth to what AlanN says above.

It's a 12 bar blues ... how hard can it be?

Well Curt, go ahead and post your version then. Maybe I can learn something from it! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

If you think that you can learn more from me than Bill, you'd be sadly disappointed.

I learned a new trick on the computer the other day. Google "images) with the name of a tune and it often brings up standatd notation or tab. I did it for Tombstone Junction and here is the link

That is totally cool!

There is another great version of this song on Ashby Frank's solo recording called "First Crossing".
