Hi,

Found a great resource of old fiddle tunes for mandolin // Mandolin Instruction: Old Time, Country and Fiddle Tunes - Michael Holmes at:

http://www.smithsonianglobalsound.org/containerdetail.aspx?itemid=1441

You can download the liner notes with tabs of each song in PDF for free and/or download the sound files for $9.99

Or $8.99 at:

http://www.amazon.com/Mandoli....sr=1-34 (http://www.amazon.com/Mandolin-Instruction-Country-Fiddle-Tunes/dp/B000S57C8U/ref=sr_1_34/104-4337427-8127118?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1190923271&sr=1-34)

I'm working on "Turkey in the Straw" right now, and almost have it.

Peace... Carl

Glad you found this! #Mike Holmes is a fine player who runs the online vintage instrument information site Mugwumps Online (http://www.mugwumps.com). #Mike also holds three weekend music camps every year outside of Boston, including Mandolin Camp North (http://www.mugwumps.com/mcn.html).

Dave

[disclosure: I teach at Mike's camps and happen to think he's a great guy]

Dave,
That's quite an arsenal.
No bowlbacks?

Hey that's who I learned to play mandolin from first, from Mike and his book of tunes.
If he can play with his huge hands anyone can, and he plays a narrow neck just as well as a fatty.
