I was there. I entered the mandolin contest. I didn't win but I did fine for my first contest entry. I did Jerusalem Ridge.
we missed the contest, got there Sat afternoon.

Watermelon Park Festival is one of my favorites. I got to jam with Larry Keel's band mates (Mark and Jason) and sing one song with Larry. The caliber of pickers (like Will Lee and John Flowers) in the group I played with was the best I'd ever seen. Put the proverbial goosebumps on your neck. I gotta check this out. We just recently moved to Va and a couple weeks back I was scouring the web to try and find some kind of fest to get to so I could hang out and do some picking... I saw this but had family coming into town over the same weekend. Hopefully next year.
