Hi all ~
Can anyone point me to a place where I can get tabs for Ry Cooder's "Billy the Kid"? #This is the first (and only) mandolin song I learned years ago, but I know I was playing it wrong. #And at this point, 20+ years later, I can't remember what I did anyway. #I'm planning on getting more out of the mandolin than I did before, and this would be a good blast from the past for me.

but it's well worth it to buy the MWN issue because of the Ry interview (frantic mandolin) and the handwritten Mike Marshall transcription of BTK.

That is a great issue of Mandolin World. I got it yesterday. I never knew that "France Chance" on "Ry Cooder" was done using Mandolin, Mandola and Mandocello. I listened to it again last night. Very cool effect he created there.

Yes, and that issue also has the fabulous transcription of Tiny and Jethro solos on Swing 39.
A friend recently gave me a CD of a live Ry Cooder show from the Record Plant circa 1974. What a great CD. Two solo mando tunes;Billy and Axe Sweet Mama.....plus load of other cool stuff.
It got me to dust off my Billy the Kid too!
