I have thusfar been unsuccessful in my attempts to win the offered mandolins of the past.

I propose that if no other member submits an email to win the upcoming mandolin, I would be the only entry and would then win it. In return, I promise to not submit for any future mandolins. Is that Fair or What!!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif??!!!

Mental health professionals have identified the Lottery sydrome, in which the sufferer fantasizes regarding the changes in his life when he wins the lottery and then suffers sever depression when he doesn't. I feel the same way every time there is a mandolin giveaway (not that it stops me from entering).

How about folks enter a single e-mail address for their entry instead of one for each family member they may know or be related too? #I reckon it doesn't matter too much. #I haven't won a raffle here yet...

I will, however, pledge this.. Since I'm not that great of a player and I have a great mando already, if I win, I'll donate it back to the Café to be raffled off or whatever and split the proceeds with Butch, Andy, and Peter Mix's son. #That's not anti-MAS that just recognizing how I could make that instrument do the most work in the world by me.

I think instead of drawings the next thing should be some sort of contest. Like "Make a funny video on youtube that promotes the mandolin" and then the winner would win a mandolin.

It would be awesome!

THAT IS A GREAT IDEA SO LONG AS NO MANDOLINS ARE HARMED .

I prefer the ninja like randomness of the drawing to the arbitraryness of someone else deciding on funny...

Well, it was only a suggestion, and I think something like that would be a lot of fun. Instead of having one person decide all you could have a panel of guys. Like Scott T. and Ted E. and whoever the builder is and maybe their family.

Or you could have the contest not be about humor at all, but instead put other requirements on it. I don't know! Just an idea, really.

I hope I win that Mix! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Eh.. sorry for being a curmudgeon on a Friday. Heck, if Scott recieves a mando to pass along to the community and the donor is cool with the idea... anything goes. I would probably try to win no matter what!

Select 5 people to win, and make them write an essay as to "why I would want the newest type of mandolin out on the market"; or, have a contest out of the finalist to come up with a new marketing slogan for the MIX; or, throw them into a cage and let them duke it out. Either way, I will be entering to win the mandolin.

If they have a cage fight you could even use the Mix mando as a weapon like a folding chair only... it won't break!

When they announced the Mix mandos I suggested they could advertise them by having two people whack each other with them like clubs in an ad or something. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well, Tomorrow is the draw for the winner of this mandolin. I must say that so far 5657 of you have disappointed me with my simple request, but if I win I will keep my word about not trying for future instruments. If someone else gets it, all bets are off.

I think this will turn out just like when Oprah Winfrey said that she was going to give away a car, then it turned out everybody won a car.

I really am excited for this.

Actually we do need more mandolins in Utah; at least one for each of our wives! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Seriously, though, I was floored when Scott contacted me. I really don't win stuff... so to win something like this is very overwhelming! I was very intrigued with this latest project of Peter's when I first saw it posted, and I'm very excited to get my hands on it. My wife is very excited too; I've only got one wife and that's enough, http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif but she plays mandolin very tastefully and it will be great to be able to share this instrument with her.

I owe Scott a great debt of gratitude for facilitating this site and these contests, and Peter for generously donating this instrument. The folks that frequent this forum are a great bunch and I don't know that I'm as worthy of this instrument as some of the other people that entered, so I feel very lucky indeed.

Congrats Paul...I own a Mix A5 and I play it all the time.
Hope you like yours too!

I think it's the ultimate utility mando...plug and play, leave it in your trunk, spill Guinness on it; throw it in the overhead on the plane, let your kids play with it...rain or shine, hot or cold, dry or muggy it always sounds great and stays in tune!

Congrats, again.

Congratulations!

Chip... Thanks, and I intend to get it out and let folks play it... I figure that's the least I can do. I'll p-mail you or have Ken get in touch if we're getting a formal tasting together.

Chris... This doesn't mean I'm off your list! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Maybe, since we'll have an A style, Cate will let me buy a 2 point. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I will post a review and see if I can record some clips that are worth posting. At the very least I can probably get Ken Sager, Tom Smart, or Steve Stewart to play something for y'all.

Congrats as well! I looked at the Cafe' this morning at work to see if I won. I didn't. Last Thursday my wife and I were at a fundraising dinner and there was a reverse raffle with the final prize of $5000.00 being drawn. We were among the final five to be called up to the front of the room. Tradition has it that all five can agree to split the take but all five were not present so it went down to the wire. We missed it by one and the winner wasn't present. I guess based on that luck, I didn't expect to win but I also didn't really need another mandolin (I keep telling myself that!).

You snooze, you lose . . . I'm a day late to try and highjack the mandolin with a claim that "Paul in Utah" is obviously a misspelling of "Paul in VT".

Enjoy your new toy, Paul, I got to sample some of the earliest ones before they went on the market and was very impressed! -- Paul
