My new Muth came today. It is beautiful and sounds good but I have a problem. It doesn't fit in either my Bobelock or Travelite cases without forcing it in. What case do you use for yours?

I use a supercase and it doe's fit tight but not all that tight. how about a few pics? How is the sound? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Is that the supercase from FQMS? I may have to try to trade for one of those. I hate to think about modifying my Bobelock.

Hi Dave,
I make custom cases of excellent quality and for less money than the Boblelock. Drop me a note or call. Here's a picture of a recently completed F-Style in burgundy lizard with black crushed velvet interior.
Thanks,

Hi Mandobar. I've had my new Muth F5 for nearly 2 months now and love it. It fits into a shaped TKL case as well as the vintage Golden Gate shaped case. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all of the advice. I've talked to Larry and am just leaving my Muth in the Bobelock. It seems to be conforming and is easier to put in everyday.

Dave - if the case is tight in just one or two small areas, you can compress the foam in those areas with a baseball - or billiard ball. Note the compressing surface and roll the ball on the interferring surface a few times, test the fit and stop when it just works. We used to adjust kevlar motorcycle helmets that way and it definately does work on most of the modern cases with foam inserts. If you need to push some of the supporting material on the bottom sides of the well, use a bat or a pool cue to roll around on the surface.

cheap and easy.

Hi Rob how much are your custom cases? And what colors do they come in? Thanks Mike

I agree with the post about gently crushing the foam to get a custom fit on your case, it does work and will help you guys who have a nice case but not a perfect fit. Take your time, not all foams are created equally, some crush easily and some don't.

Mike, I do single mando cases for $200. Pretty much whatever you can dream up for covering and lining. I've got some great green crushed velvet for a Loar-era look...
