I have a mandolin that needs a fret job, and being new to the area, I don't know who's good around here. There's a music store in Durham called "High Strung" that does repairs, but when I asked about a mandolin fret job, they kinda acted like they thought it would be too hard for them, although they did quote me a good price ($120).
So, who's good and reasonable in the area. I'm actually in Graham, so Greensboro is just as close as Durham.

I can highly recommend Greg Hanson in Raleigh for set up work/repair. VERY good! (919) 828-9619

Greg Hanson is very good and has done work for me; you can't go wrong with him. #However, I think Ben Runkle, who's also in Raleigh and has also done work for me, is even better and -- at least in my expereince -- easier to get in to see. #His number is 919-851-8611.
I don't know of anyone in Greensboro since David Sheppard closed up his shop. #I've heard of a fellow named Snuffy Smith -- no kidding -- who's somewhere in the Piedmont of NC. #I've seen his name here on this board, so I'm pretty sure someone will come through with his contact info.

To give High Strung their due, they moved to a much larger new location a couple of months ago, and I think they're feeling overwhelmed right now because business seems to be very good. I've always been happy with their work in the past. However I don't think they're even taking in repair work at the moment.
Thanks for the tips on the Raleigh guys.

I've had Greg and Ben both do work for me recently, and would recommend either (or both!).
