Does anyone know a website where I can listen to a variety of both old time and bluegrass songs, played primarily on a mandolin? Oh and hopefully not in "midi" foremat!

Have you tried YouTube? Find a list of popular songs (maybe ask in the genre forums here), then plug them into the YouTube search engine and see what you get. My S.O. is a beginner fiddler, and that's what she's been doing to see how people are handling certain tunes she's interested in. You'll get everything from beginners hacking their way through a piece, to professional performance videos.
