Howdy!
I love music from the Balkan States...I have quite a bit of music from that region, message me and I can try and scan some for you.....
But most of my stuff is from, Macedonia, Bulgaria..I have a couple Serbian, but I would have to check for some stuff from the other countrys you have listed...
Great stuff for Mandolin.........7/8............

And 9 and 11. There are people who write this stuff out, but most I know who play it well just learn it by ear. If you're looking for printed sources, look for accordion music.

Try this site: http://www.folkloretanznoten.de/index.html
Not all of the links to sheet music work (at least on the Serbian page), but there are some nice tunes to try out here.
Also, you can check here: http://www-linux.gsi.de/~karlson/Noten/noten.htm#Kroatien
Maybe if I feel ambitious I'll write out the solo mandolin version of Makedonsko Devojce that I play. It's one of my favorites.

Paul,
You are exactly right about learning the tunes by ear. That's exactly how I learned to play the music from Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. The 7(and the reverse variants), 9, 11 tunes aren't always so easy to learn from notes. The 7+7+11 tunes (Bulgarian)can be #very confusing. I think it's definitely easier and better to learn by ear. All of this is my opinion of course.
