I have done a search on Epiphone MM-30 and see that it is a cheaper mandolin that sells for around $150. Afriend has loaned me his Epiphone and it is a MM-30VS, All I could find out is it seems to cost more and the VS stands for vintage sunburst. I am not overly ompressed with it however it will do untill I save up the funds to get me something nicer. Just wonder what the difference in the MM30 and the MM30VS.

Thanks

They should have the same specs; I think the 'VS' means your friend's MM-30 came from a time when they were offered in different colors (blue, red, green, & black; and VS of course). Throw in another $20, and you can get the MM-30E with a pickup (and sporting that groovy transparent blue finish).

I concur with above. Epiphone uses VS for "vintage sunburst"
I have an Epiphone MM50 designated VS as well yet that's the only finish it comes in.

My mm30E is nice. It stays in tune and has great action. It's a very playable instrument. I'd doubt that they're consistently this nice, but you could likely play a few and get a good one. Good Luck!
