I'm not much into old time, but I found this tune recently, and it's a blast to play. So I thought I'd share it!
If any of you have the chords that go with it, that would be nice!

There's a Northumbrian tune "President Garfield's Hornpipe" which shares some of the bars of this one but is sufficiently different to make an interesting medley.
All the best

Garfield's is a bear for me, particularly the B part.

Great tune.
Goes good with "Silver Star Hornpipe"
I didn't like some of the "B" part of "Grants", so I changed it. Are you allowed to do that? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

uh, B part (to me) means bridge. Garfield's is in Bb.

sorry - i got confused by one of the other posters....will try this out later.
Tony Furtado picks Garfield's on an album, I think Steffey is on mandolin. Adam seems to have little trouble with the B part. I hate that man http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
and to Grant's, that B part looks rocking, need to get home and try it.

Suspect it depends where you're from . The smallpipes version I play is in G major.
All the best

Butch Baldassari, Robin Bullock, and John Reichman do a great medley of Garfield, Grant, and Rising Faun Reels on the Travellers CD.

Anybody able to post an MP3 of this one? sounds like a good tune. I took the ABC format from Nigel Gatherer's and plugged it into concertina.net for the midi. midi's just don't quite cut it, but work in a pinch.
Seems like a cool tune.
Been playing (or playing at...) Garfield's for years. That B part is a doosey...
Thanks for posting this tune.
I did a quick Google of "President Grant's Hornpipe MP3" and got several nice versions...
