Just saw him at the Gibson Lounge here in Memphis. Wow....that's about the best description I could give. I'm sure a lot of folks are familiar with Leftover Salmon, which Drew was a co-founder of. I saw them a couple of times and while I always had a good time, I have to say that Drew didn't stand out as much. I hate to say that LOS is gimmicky, but the "good time" vibe just did something to hold Drew back (my opinion of course).
To hear him do these soulful, amazingly beautiful tunes was just revolutionary. What an amazing musician. One of the best shows I've ever seen by far. In addition to the great songs, singing, and other great musicians....I'm surprised his Nugget isn't left in splinters the way he wore out that mando! You owe it to yourself as a music lover to check this guy out.
Oh yeah, and he was nice enough to hang a bit after the show and rub some "mojo" on my pick.
