Probably everyone has heard of a mandocello before, but I hadn't until just today.

What is the difference. Looking at pictures on the Net at a mandocello, it looks pretty much like a mandolin.

Will someone please tell me the difference. Looks like the neck may be longer, but couldn't tell for sure.

Thanks

This (http://www.mandolincafe.com/archives/faq.html#mandolintypessizes) should help. The scale length is about that of an acoustic guitar.

Thanks Jacob:

I thought the neck looked longer and about the size of a guitar, but wasn't sure. I did read where the tuning is different in the info you pointed me to.

Is the body the same size as the mandolin?

A mandocello is tuned CGDA, same as a mandola but one octave lower. The mandolin is the soprano voice, mandola is the alto/tenor voice, the mandocello is the tenor/baritone voice.

Thanks for all the info.

Like I said, guess everybody knew about mandocellos but me. Now
I know too, but think I will just stick to the mando and fiddle.
