I did an impulse buy of a neat little device today at a local music store. It is called a "Wedgie" and it is a little rubber thingy that friction mounts on the strings between the nut and the tuning pegs. It securely holds an extra pick in a really handy, easy to grab position. Also on the mando, it has the effect of muting most of the the head strings, much like rubber grommets do on tail strings. It is decent looking mounted on a mando also. It is not a "big deal" accessory, certainly not a necessity, but it seems well thought out and useful. Here is a link to the manufacturer's web site:
