I use them on my F4 and the EXP75 on my F9. I like the way they sound seem to have more of a punch sound to them and they last a good 2~3 months for me. I usuually end up changing them before they go dead. They take a few days to settle or break in.

I've used them on my Collings MT, and I really like them. They were great at the Mandolin Symposium because they lasted the whole week.

After I burn through my remaining sets of J74s, they are going to be my string of choice.

I know that Mike Compton uses EXP74s, and I'm pretty sure that Tim O'Brien does as well.

I use EXP 75s which are heavier and they sound great on my Eastman 515.Used to use 74s but the 75s have so much more lower end punch.

My Breedlove OO came with them on it from the shop. I believe they put them on all of thier mandos. I'm not planning on ever changing since, in my opinion, it can't get much better for me and mine. I'd say give em a shot for sure if you're feeling exploratory.

Add me to the list of EXP users. #I use EXP-75's on my F9. #I'll occaisionally use something else for a change, but I'm always sorry I did and end up replacing them early.

I try different strings occassionally but the J-74's are the strings I keep coming back to. They are a little pricier but I have also like the John Pearse strings.

I have used them off and on for years, but I am about to give them up again, I think. They have too many overtones, versus solid, clear notes for me, especially on the treble end. Also the break-in time is too long, even longer than J74s. They do last, but for me, if I have to put them on and wait two weeks for them to sound even close to what I want, I'll pass, especially for the price. I am going to try the Firewires. They are about the same price as EXPs, and I have read they have a broken in sound from the get-go and they last longer than J74s. Well see...

I only use EXP-74's. Great string.

I get six months out of each set on my '30 Fern and four months per set on my '02 Fern.

I don't see any reason to use anything else.

Same here, Steven. I've got the acid hands and these things last through it.

I use 'em. They sound great and last much longer than the non-coated ones.

It's all I use. Danny Roberts and Jackie Miller use them exclusively. I can name many professionals that use only that string as well. It is the best string I've found for overall performance and tone at this point. Every other string has some downfall (short life, string breakage, poor tone, etc) that seems to be fixed with the EXP74's. Just my opinion...and that of many others.

Played 'em for a year or so, and just never liked them that much. Of course I can name several professionals that AREN'T the mandolin player that I am. (That's a good thing because if they were, we'd probably be wearing baggy britches down to our hamstrings, wearing our ball caps sideways, and bouncing like a super ball dropped off a twenty story building.)

My mentor and friend, Doyle Lawson, endorses them and uses them exclusively! He told me that he goes through about only 8 sets of the EXP 74's per year, which is a VERY low number, considering the number of shows he does each year, coupled with rehearsing and traveling from one climate to another. The coating extends their life and adds to the instrument's sound and tone!!! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif They're great strings!!!

I would highly recommend them!!! As Rocky would say, "Go For It!"

I use EXP75's on all my mandolins. Two things I like about them is that they don't sound too bright right when you put them on. The other is that they last for a long time and keep nice and slippery making slides easier. I can go about two months on a set.
