i'm on vacation and i went into music store and picked up an eastman 505 mando a style and it played great. #i have a dragonfly michael kelly III and i thought that it played okay before i picked up eastman. #the store owner said that he would make an even trade for the eastman. #is this a good deal? or am i being impulsive? # thanks, sharon http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

If you like the Eastman better than the MK then I'd say it is a good trade. No idea what Eastman's run, but you can find that easy enough online. But then again, if you like the Eastman, putting a price on it is pointless.

Cheetah:
IMO you with the Eastman come out ahead tone-wise. I have owned both makes.
I have an Eastman 505 and an MK Legacy Elegante. I got the MK as an upgrade to the 505 but now I'm not really sure it is an upgrade. So far I don't like it better than the 505 even though it is prettier and does have the scroll.
I'll probably end up keeping them both.

I really just boils own to which you like better. The idea of 'good deals' goes out the window if you don't really like the instrument.
