I am going to be in P-Cola next week (24-28 May) for a conference and was wondering if there is anything of note that I should look for. Good shops, builders, pawn shops, jams, bands etc. If not I guess I'll have a few uninterrupted evenings of mando practice in the hotel rooms, doesn't sound so bad!! Any info is appreciated.

Thanks
Loren

Hey Loren, I don't live far from there and a lot of acoustic music is performed nearby. Check the Yellow Pages for The Fiddle Shop and Tringas Music for starters. I'm sure both could lead you in the right direction. There is a concert (w/dinner) in my little town, Fairhope, AL, on the 28th; about 45 minutes from Pensacola. Oak Hollow Farm is right off of Hwy. 98, which runs into Pensacola.

You might try stopping in to Harris Music and Sound located at 657 N. Pace Blvd, ph 850 434-6497, they usually have a few mando's and can probably answer your questions. Another is Ye' Ol Fiddle Shoppe 850 479-1989, and one more Blue Angel Guitars on Navy Blvd 850 457-7557. Wish I was going to Pensacola.

Ken, Lownote,

Thanks a ton. #Sounds like some good stores and some goodleads for acoustic music. #Hopefully work won't interfere to much with this business trip http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

If you're looking for live music with a beach twist, the Florabama is a good place. They have several stages and they are located on the Gulf beach on the Florida/Alabam state line. My brother-in-law J Hawkins plays out there. It's a nice way to get in the beach and music at the same time. They have a website with schedules. Have fun!
