Anyone familiar with the Sprurg mandolins built by Jason Spurgeon of Morristown Tennessee?

Not familiar with them, but I don't think the picture in the
classifieds is actually his. I could be wrong, but I think I've seen it elsewhere.

Here is a picture of a SP-3 that he sent me this morning. I do not know anything about them, but my interest is piqued.

I got the same pix too. Too bad I'm not closer to him, I'd drive over and test one for us.

I'm only about 40 minutes away, I might have to go check one of those out soon.

What's the black bar on the headstock covering up? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

This mandolin looks like what you would have if a John Monteleone and a Dave Cohen mandolin mated. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I see the black bar your talking about. I played with levels in PS to see if I was imagining something? Something has been covered up. Any Ideas?

Boy, that's BAD. I'm sure that will make one lose the urge to splurge on a Spurg.

Not that the name was attracting me...he must have had the desire to cover it up.

Isn't the notorious Danny Spurgeon's middle name Jason?

As if this guy's spelling wasn't proof enough, he must be an absolute moron to think that people can't see the black bar over the headstock inlay. What an idiot. No wonder this guy's been to jail so many times. Thank God most criminals are stupid.

If he does go to jail, perhaps he could direct his energy to making a mandolin out of match sticks? I remember as a child, having an elephant carved out of soap - it was made by a prisoner (perhaps a relative?).

The pic that you have there, is of a Flatbush V-5 mandolin. They are built by Victor Smith from the country of Denmark. This particular model is being sold by Danny Bishop of Bishop Violins located in Fairview, NC.

I know him well and I have been to his shop. He polished the frets on my Kentucky KM-1000 back in 2004.

This picture was taken on the front porch of his shop.

www.bishopviolins.com will prove my point.

There is no such builder or seller as Spurg or Spurge mandolins from Morristown, TN.

After seeing the original photo, and looking at both photos, I noted his M$Paint skills are on par with his spelling, grammar.

Odd black mark to the left and a screwy "airbrush" texture to the right.
