What experiences have you folks had with e-mail from juststrings.com? I must say my order was sent on time but I had a problem with one of the D strings (failure or breakage upon restringing). It has been a week and no response from the custer service department even after 3 e-mails. What's up with that...I assumed they were a credible site since they are sponsers of the Mando Cafe. Any thoughts? #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Nothing but good here.....I would hate to be in charge of answering emails from folks that have broken strings when changing out sets. I bet they get that all the time. I have mistakenly broken a few strings by tuning up an octave...bummer when it happened but nobodys fault but mine. I did have a set of GHS strings that broke while changing them out...I did everything right and still popped a D wire! Maybe you could just get one of the single strings to replace the one that is broken?
Just Stings has always been really good to me....very fast delivery!

This was recently discussed at some length (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=8&t=13795). May I suggest you phone Michael Jones at 603-889-2664. I'm saying this because I get mail bounced back on almost a daily basis where the sender has not properly entered a return email address. I'm not saying you've done that, but it's a possibility. That coupled with the aggressive spam filtering that isn't always working properly and there's an outside #chance they aren't even receiving your email.

Just my two bits for what it's worth. I called JustStrings proior to placing my first order. I had wanted to check availability and do the transaction over the phone. The woman I spoke with wasn't rude but she ceratinly didn't give me a good feeling or make me feel glad in anyway that I had called. I placed that order elsewhere as a result.

A while later I decided to give them another shot, mostly because of positive stuff I'd read about them here. I ordered via the web and got my order promptly and with no problems at all. I just placed another order last week and recieved it earlier this week, again with no problems of any kind.

Conclusions? The folks at JustStrings might not always make you feel 'valued' as a customer but they do deliver ... completely, promptly, at a good price and with no hassles. I think I'll just avoid talking to 'em and keep on ordering from them. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hope this helps ...

I have to agree with WJF.

Orders over the internet are dealt with promptly, but I found the lady on the other end of the phone less than helpful when inquiring about custom string sets. I wanted some specific information about length and was told to go to the manufacturers web site. I was suprised when asking her why they the seller (specifically she) did not have basic info handy, her answer was not satisfactory to me, so I order my strings from elsewhere now. The way I figure it I can put in an order from anybody and be told to go to the manufacturers web site for info, did not expect that from a specialty string shop.

Nothing but good from them. Also nothing but good from www.stringitup.com. And nothing but good from www.stringdeals.com, ditto www.webstrings.com

Ya gotta shop these folks, seeing who's got what, at what price, with what terms (sometimes shipping is sorta funny).

You might get better results removing those strings you already put on, sending broken and unused strings back directly to the manufacturer.

OK OK...so I'm a type A personality, but I have to tell you the rest of the story. As Scott T. suggested I called Michael at juststrings.com and he treated well with great respect. He contacted Connolly & Co. the importer of TI strings. Michael Hershkowitz (account representative)sent a wonderful letter of apology for the bad string and sent two replacements. Wow, job very well done. I am a proud customer of juststrings.com...and those TI starks make my mando sing! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

I've gotten very good service from JustStrings. I do order over the internet -- having never talked to them directly.

I have to say, I would not expect a clerk to know something about the length of custom strings -- although they should know how to look up the information or at least be pleasant about it. As with most things now days, I'd rather do my own research than rely on someone who might not even play an instrument or know the difference between an oud and a mandolin.

Good service and good prices. One time they back ordered some sets but sent them as soon as they came in "Free" plus an extra set to boot.
