The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival will be held in Okemah, OK July 11-15, 2007.
I received the lineup yesterday for the WG Folk Festival. Much to my surprise, Tim O'Brien, Ellis Paul, The Burns Sisters, Kevin Welch, Jimmy LaFave, and Arlo will all perform.
But the biggest surprise was seeing Greg Klyma. The Buffalo, NY demigod is scheduled to perform at 12:00PM on Friday, July 13, 2007. I ran into Greg in 2000 in his hometown of Buffalo while we were touring to support our album (Lawn Jockey - "Jethro's Revenge"). Exchanged info, music, and stayed in touch for about a year...then lost all contact. Just talked to Adam in Buffalo and he'll get word to Greg today to be on the lookout for me. Can't wait to see him again and listen to his rootsy, Americana folk. He's also a great mando picker.
I *really* wish the WG Folk Festival would get Ken Boynton...from Seattle down here. His band was great...fiddle, mando, superb vocals...it had it all.
Local Okies, head out if you can catch any of the shows. Should be a great time as always...and this year the weather has not been too uncomfortably hot.
