it has pear inlay on the neck comes with a little case and strap.
i had a couple of madolin players play it and said it had low action and played very easy.
Hey, pear inlay is hard to come by. You have to preserve the pears before you can inlay with them. His madolin players liked the action, but that's only because no mandolin player would even look at it, let alone touch it.

Do these people even know how ridiculous they look, or are they truly that clueless? Surely no one would think that mandolin was actually a Gibson, would they?

Sweet Gibson on the Bay -- Song title!!!
One sunny summer Day I was surfing on the Bay
stumbled on this pretty man-a-lin
curves were extra fine, action was divine
her headstock promised vintage Gib-a-son
Everbody ... You know the words
Ebay scam, Ebay scam
Won't be mine?
I'll snipe you at the end
and win your curves divine.

Chances are that somebody told him it was a fake. Chances are greater that he doesn't care. eBay sellers have become a little more sophisticated than they used to be, most can search and see that an F5 Gibson will be worth, at a minimum a few thousand dollars. He'd never have it out there with no reserve. He knows it's an f style, if he acts dumb he can say he didn't know it was a fake if the winner complains after getting it. The other side of the coin is that there is somone out there just dying to own it simply because it says Gibson on the headstock. A few years ago there was a guy that was inlaying the Gibson logo on all sorts of pacrim mandolins and selling them as "Gibson copies". He had one or two up each week.

Following this guy's lead, I'm going to go out and paint "Mercedes" on the side of my '91 Dodge Caravan and list it.

No, he said he had madolin players. Big difference. Do you play the madolin?

I may be wrong but the guy on the left looks like Orville Givson.

hey, it could be a pre-hologram Givson. they probably had to authenticate their stuff after those hacks at the Gibson company started copying their design. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

There used to be a Gibson variety store chain here in Texas (and maybe elsewhere) a number of years ago. Don't remember a 'store' brand mandolin being there.

Was it made in a Gibson shop or in shop class by a special needs student named Gibson? That scroll comes in handy for hanging it on the clothesline, or fishing.

At least the neck in made out of 'Toon' wood. It's also 'Export Quality'. Does that mean it doesn't meet the quality to be sold locally?

Indians are outrageously free with their use of Registered Trade names. You can buy "Pepsi" brand paint (possibly the worst paint ever made) "Sony" gas stoves, "Seiko" kitchen faucets and of course, the infamous "Givson" guitars. They're not very good, but they don't cost very much.
Don't forget those Hormelton watches!

Sure, but how does it do in a blind taste test against Coke?
I have seen three or four of these mandos on eBay, a couple with the name "Orpheum" (a fairly common U.S. brand name for vintage banjos). Hard to say what they sound like, but they have a lot of potential nonmusical uses (boat hook? bottle opener?).
I wanted to be a Madeline player, but she told me to get lost.
